Ute Body

The X-Bar Ute body series introduces a quick-release cover design to the concept. When not towing, a closed cover plate provides a clean appearance to the vehicle, hiding the hitch pin, shackle and plug points. Picking up on the lines of the towbar, the closed cover plate adds to the overall integrated appearance of the X-Bar. Under towing conditions, the cover plate lifts and locks to allow easy access to plug sockets and shackle points. Similarly, an open cover plate maximises off-road clearance and minimises impact damage in extreme conditions.

Recovery Safety

At some point, vehicle recovery will be necessary for any 4WD enthusiast so it is important to understand how to do this in a safe and effective manner. For rear recovery, the common practice sees the use of the towbar hitch box (with a D-shackle recovery point installed) as a connection for the recovery strap.

Whilst some may view this method as adequate, towbars are not designed or tested with the extreme recovery loads generated by a stuck vehicle in mind. Uncommon but worst-case scenarios have seen users attach recovery straps directly over tow balls. Forces generated in even the lightest recovery situation highlight that this method is simply not a safe option.
